Urges public participation in building greener, cleaner J&K
Jammu, July 2: Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, Dr. Syed Darakhshaan Andrabi, on Thursday led a plantation drive in the Eidgah area of Jammu as part of an ongoing initiative aimed at promoting a cleaner, greener and healthier Union Territory.
During the drive, Dr. Andrabi planted shade-giving and fruit-bearing saplings and called upon citizens to actively participate in environmental conservation by planting and nurturing trees responsibly.
Addressing the gathering, she said environmental protection is one of the most important responsibilities of the present time, adding that every tree planted is an investment in the future.
She said expanding green cover would improve ecological balance and environmental quality while leaving a healthier legacy for coming generations.
“The Waqf Board is committed to greener and cleaner campuses across Jammu and Kashmir and we are continuously working to improve the green cover at all our sites and shrines,” she said.
Dr. Andrabi urged especially the youth to transform environmental awareness into collective action, stressing that meaningful change can only be achieved through public participation.
She reaffirmed that every citizen has a role to play in preserving the natural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir and making it cleaner, greener and pollution-free.
