The Cyber Police Station Ramban has successfully traced and recovered 35 lost mobile phones worth approximately Rs 6.5 lakh and returned them to their rightful owners, reinforcing public confidence in technology-driven policing.
According to police officials, the recovered devices had been reported missing at various police stations across Ramban district. Acting promptly on the complaints, a dedicated team from the Cyber Police Station launched a systematic investigation, employing advanced cyber-tracking techniques and technical tools to locate and recover the mobile phones.
The recovery operation was carried out by a team comprising PSI Arun Singh, PSI Arwinder Singh, ASI Mohd Shareef, Selection Grade Constable Ayaz Ahmed and Constable Hemit Singh under the guidance of DySP Headquarters Ramban, Viqar Younus Batt.
The operation was conducted under the overall supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban, Arun Gupta. Following the completion of all necessary verification and legal formalities, the recovered mobile phones were handed over to their legitimate owners.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Ramban Police for their swift response, professional approach and successful efforts in recovering their valuable belongings.
Police officials stated that since the establishment of the Cyber Police Station/Cyber Cell in Ramban district in 2024, a total of 275 lost or missing mobile phones worth nearly Rs 45.5 lakh have been successfully traced, recovered and restored to their owners.
Notably, Ramban Police currently ranks third in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in tracing and recovering lost mobile phones.
The achievement has drawn widespread public appreciation and highlights the growing effectiveness of technology-enabled policing in the district.
Officials said the success reflects the department's commitment to leveraging modern technology to improve public service delivery and strengthen trust between the police and the community.
Reiterating its commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens, District Police Ramban assured continued efforts towards responsive, transparent and technology-driven policing.
