Livestock inspector caught by Odisha Vigilance while taking Rs 80,000 bribe in Nabarangpur
A Livestock Inspector in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district was caught red-handed by the Vigilance Department while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 80,000 on Friday. Simultaneous raids were also carried out at multiple properties linked to the accused over allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The accused, Prafulla Haldar, is posted as a Livestock Inspector in Raighar block. According to Vigilance, he had allegedly demanded the bribe from beneficiaries of the Chief Minister Kamadhenu Scheme to facilitate the release of subsidy funds.
Beneficiaries Allegedly Threatened
Vigilance officials said Haldar had allegedly threatened to withhold the subsidy amount if the beneficiaries failed to pay the bribe. Acting on a complaint, officials laid a trap and caught him while he was allegedly accepting Rs 80,000.
The entire bribe amount was recovered from his possession.
Searches At Multiple Locations
Following the trap, Vigilance launched simultaneous searches at Haldar’s residence at DNK in Raighar, his ancestral house at Pourbel and his government office.
The searches were conducted as part of an investigation into allegations that the Livestock Inspector had acquired assets beyond his known sources of income.

The Vigilance Department said further action will be taken based on the findings of the searches, while the investigation into the case is continuing.
