Peace, harmony must prevail in J&K: LG Sinha
Tulmulla, Jun 22: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday paid obeisance at the Kheer Bhawani temple in Tulmulla, Ganderbal, and prayed for peace and prosperity of J&K.
LG Sinha offered prayers at the temple of Ragnya Devi as thousands of Kashmiri Pandits celebrated the annual mela amidst stringent security arrangements.
He also took stock of the arrangements made for the devotees.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the event, the LG emphasised the importance of preserving peace and communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Everyone prayed for peace and harmony in J&K and that the blessings of Mata Kheer Bhawani be upon all,” he said.
LG Sinha said that it was a matter of satisfaction that the number of pilgrims this year was more compared to the last few years.
He also lauded the arrangements made for the smooth conduct of the annual mela and complimented all departments and agencies involved in facilitating the yatra.
The LG said that the devotees had been visiting the shrine for decades to seek blessings and participate in the annual festival, which attracts yatris from across J&K as well as other parts of the country.
