Heavy rain alert issued in Kishtwar

Ramban, Jul 2: The District Administration Kishtwar has issued a weather advisory warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, flash floods and landslides across the district till July 5, urging residents to remain vigilant and avoid venturing near rivers, streams and other vulnerable locations. According to the advisory issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, weather conditions are expected to remain generally cloudy with spells of light to moderate-rain and thunderstorms at many places. Heavy rainfall, brief intense showers, thunder, gusty winds, flash floods near riverbanks and nallahs, as well as landslides and mudslides in vulnerable areas, are likely during the period. The administration has appealed to the general public, particularly those residing near riverbanks, nallahs and landslide-prone areas, to stay away from water bodies and other vulnerable locations until the weather improves. Residents have also been advised to take all necessary precautions to safeguard life and property. To ensure preparedness, all line departments, including Revenue, Public Works (R&B), Mechanical Engineering, PMGSY, JPDCL, Jal Shakti, Health and Medical Education, Irrigation and Flood Control, NHIDCL, BRO and other concerned agencies, have been directed to remain on high alert. Field staff have been instructed to stay active and be ready to provide immediate assistance wherever required. The administration has further directed all Tehsildars to promptly report any damage to life or property caused by the prevailing weather conditions to the district authorities without delay.
